What our clients say

We just completed our fantastic trek around Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain, and I couldn’t be more impressed with Hike Ausangate, and our fantastic guide Cirilo. Our initial investigations and inquiries were answered promptly and thoroughly by Edver, satisfying our concerns. Cirilo is an excellent guide, and not limited to hiking, he has guided mountaineering trips to the summit of Ausangate! He has 20 years of experience guiding, and is quite skilled at evaluating his clients, motivating without being pushy, encouraging when travel is hard, honest and accurate when detailing when and where the next goal will be achieved. Cirilo enjoys cooking, and we enjoyed hot meals three times a day, with a different entree every meal! He has a fantastic team to help out, and it is obvious he enjoys his work and team, as there is always laughter in their daily activities! He has an excellent network of people, and he knows everyone on the trail, ensuring that all get something to eat at mealtime. In conclusion, for experienced hikers and trekkers, a trip with Hike Ausangate and Cirilo is a luxury experience!- Archie Biswas Miller, CAN
I had a really awesome four day hike around part of the Ausangate circuit and finishing at Rainbow Mountain. Our guide Cirilo was great, and he was a local from the area which made a big difference. We stayed at his family home on the first night which was a really special experience to meet his family and see what the lifestyle is like where he lives, including playing football on the way with the locals in the village playing their regular Sunday afternoon game! Cirilo was very helpful and patient, and knew lots of information about the area. The supportive staff were also great, the food was delicious, we were definitely never hungry, and they worked hard to have all our tents set up for us every day and make sure we all had enough water. If you're looking for an adventure, and don't mind a bit of altitude and cold definitely do this hike. My only regret was not being able to do the full six days circuit!- Grace Mitchell, NZL
An incredible few days hiking around Ausangate with Cirilo and his co-workers. Fantastic scenery and food from the friendliest guides who were so helpful during the tour. Could not recommend this hike enough if you want to go somewhere less touristy but with stunning lagoons, wildlife, mountain views and rural villages in Peru.- Alistair Horne, UK
We did the 6 day, 5 night Ausangate trek with the Rainbow Mountain. Our guide Cirilo was great, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Hector, our cook, worked overtime as he also prepared our meals, which were quite good and plentiful! The horsemen were also extremely friendly. The scenery is out of this world, and keeps getting better every day! The fifth day is the most spectacular views of the trek! The days are not too long, though more exhausting than the distance would suggest given the high altitude. I would strongly recommend doing this trek to anyone interested and would highly recommend Hike Ausangate!- Peter Rubenstein, USA
We did the 6 day, 5 night trek around Ausangate with Hike Ausangate and had a wonderful time. Our guides Cirilo and Hector were fantastic, as was the rest of the team who assisted with the tents, packhorses, and cooking (the food was plentiful and delicious!). Cirilo and Hector provided local knowledge, telling us all about the wildlife, history, geology, and culture of the region. The route around Ausangate provides spectacular views of snow-covered peaks, green meadows, some cool rock formations, and of course plenty of alpacas. The stunning scenery is all the better because of the relative solitude – the constant crowds of the Inca Trail and Salkantay are worlds away on this trek, other than the hour or two spent at the popular (and worthwhile) Rainbow mountain. Once-in-a-lifetime scenery, great people, and a fascinating glimpse into Andean culture made this a truly amazing experience!- Rebecca Thorsness, USA
