local agency
for Ausangate & Rainbow Mountain

Our mission is to take you to the most
beautiful places in Peru.

Who we are

Hike Ausangate is a local agency in Peru specialized in hike adventure to unusual places. Our adventure walks are specifically and carefully designed to put you in touch with the local native people. We are specialists in routes of the circuit Ausangate and Vinicunca.

Our founder and guide Cirilo Gonzalo Huamán was born in Tinqui region of Ocongate, Province of Cusco – Peru, in August 18th, 1981. His family lived at the foot of the snowy Ausangate – the fourth highest mountain in Peru – and Cirilo spent much of his life in Ausangate, creating alpacas. He worked in a Cusco agency for five years and in 2013 saw an opportunity to open his own business, setting up own groups to guide with his own infrastructure.

Cirilo knows every inch of the region of Ausangate. His differential is the cost-benefit rate and now has a team of four muleteers and an assistant guide. Cirilo is highly recommended on the besthike.com site. For the booking our sales consultant and assistant guide Edver Carraro makes the attention for all the general information.

What our clients say

I had a really awesome four day hike around part of the Ausangate circuit and finishing at Rainbow Mountain. Our guide Cirilo was great, and he was a local from the area which made a big difference. We stayed at his family home on the first night which was a really special experience to meet his family and see what the lifestyle is like where he lives, including playing football on the way with the locals in the village playing their regular Sunday afternoon game! Cirilo was very helpful and patient, and knew lots of information about the area. The supportive staff were also great, the food was delicious, we were definitely never hungry, and they worked hard to have all our tents set up for us every day and make sure we all had enough water. If you're looking for an adventure, and don't mind a bit of altitude and cold definitely do this hike. My only regret was not being able to do the full six days circuit!- Grace Mitchell, NZ
We did the 6 day, 5 night Ausangate trek with the Rainbow Mountain. Our guide Cirilo was great, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Hector, our cook, worked overtime as he also prepared our meals, which were quite good and plentiful! The horsemen were also extremely friendly. The scenery is out of this world, and keeps getting better every day! The fifth day is the most spectacular views of the trek! The days are not too long, though more exhausting than the distance would suggest given the high altitude. I would strongly recommend doing this trek to anyone interested and would highly recommend Hike Ausangate!- Peter Rubenstein, USA
We did the 6 day, 5 night trek around Ausangate with Hike Ausangate and had a wonderful time. Our guides Cirilo and Hector were fantastic, as was the rest of the team who assisted with the tents, packhorses, and cooking (the food was plentiful and delicious!). Cirilo and Hector provided local knowledge, telling us all about the wildlife, history, geology, and culture of the region. The route around Ausangate provides spectacular views of snow-covered peaks, green meadows, some cool rock formations, and of course plenty of alpacas. The stunning scenery is all the better because of the relative solitude – the constant crowds of the Inca Trail and Salkantay are worlds away on this trek, other than the hour or two spent at the popular (and worthwhile) Rainbow mountain. Once-in-a-lifetime scenery, great people, and a fascinating glimpse into Andean culture made this a truly amazing experience!- Rebecca Thorsness, USA
