I had a really awesome four day hike around part of the Ausangate circuit and finishing at Rainbow Mountain. Our guide Cirilo was great, and he was a local from the area which made a big difference. We stayed at his family home on the first night which was a really special experience to meet his family and see what the lifestyle is like where he lives, including playing football on the way with the locals in the village playing their regular Sunday afternoon game! Cirilo was very helpful and patient, and knew lots of information about the area. The supportive staff were also great, the food was delicious, we were definitely never hungry, and they worked hard to have all our tents set up for us every day and make sure we all had enough water. If you’re looking for an adventure, and don’t mind a bit of altitude and cold definitely do this hike. My only regret was not being able to do the full six days circuit!
